AI-Powered WordPress

With the release of WordPress 7.0 and the canonical AI plugin, WordPress now has AI built into its core. It allows you to generate content, moderate comments, create accessible alt text, connect integrated AI client using the API keys, connect external AI assistants using the MCP servers using API keys, and start building your own AI-powered features. This is now achievable from within the WordPress ecosystem you already know.

This course takes you on a progressive journey through WordPress AI: from your first provider connection, through the editorial and administrative tools that make day-to-day work faster, to the underlying building blocks that let you extend WordPress AI for your own plugins and themes. Each module builds on the last, so by the end you will have a complete picture of how AI works in WordPress and the confidence to use it at whatever level fits your goals.

No coding experience is required to complete the first three modules. Module 4 introduces PHP code with step-by-step explanation, designed to be approachable even if you are new to WordPress development.

The AI Client routes requests from features to whichever provider you have configured. The MCP Adapter opens your site’s capabilities to external AI agents like Claude Desktop or Claude Code. You do not need to be a developer to benefit from understanding how these pieces connect.
