Content Creation
Did "Content Creation" work well for your group?
Share feedbackIn this hands-on activity, participants will use the WordPress Playground environment running WordPress 7.0 to build and manage a digital post from scratch. Without requiring any prior advanced technical knowledge or a pre-existing WordPress account, attendees will learn how to directly interact with the block editor, insert media blocks and pre-built patterns, configure organizational taxonomies, and manage document visibility. Finally, participants will execute a live test workflow by scheduling a post to go live, verifying its publication on the site front end via the system’s cron scheduler, and walking through a visual rollback using the revisions history tool.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify Content Architecture: Distinguish between the structural roles of posts and pages to accurately choose the correct content type for either timely, dated blog feed entries or static, evergreen web pages.
- Utilize the Block Editor: Build a formatted post by using the forward slash inline block picker and block inserter sidebar to add text, headings, lists, and images.
- Configure Media and Patterns: Upload assets to the Media Library, define descriptive image alt text for accessibility, generate a grid via the Gallery block, and insert customized layouts using block patterns.
- Organize Content Taxonomies: Assign hierarchical categories and flat tags, configure a 1200×630 px featured image, draft a custom post excerpt, and clean up the permanent web address via a shortened URL slug.
- Evaluate Publishing Workflows: Manage post visibility settings between Public, Private, and Password-protected states, and execute immediate or future automated publication scheduling.
- Diagnose and Restore Revisions: Analyze a post’s history by navigating the Revisions panel to compare color-coded visual overlays of added, removed, or modified blocks, and execute a structural rollback using the restoration utility.
